A Note from Fr. Lou
As we head towards Advent, there are many different ways for us to participate both in parish life both here and around the wider Enumclaw area. Keep checking the bulletin announcements for different events and charitable works organized and hosted by the Knights of Columbus and also by other local community members around caroling (and of course the Christmas Parade!).
A reminder that small groups signup is still underway. This will be a way for parishioners to connect and pray together during the Advent Season. Also, mark your calendars for Thursday November 30th at 7pm for a night of praise and song with the Vigil Project here at the parish.
Partners in the Gospel Update:
The committees at the chancery in Seattle overseeing the parish consolidation process known as Partners in the Gospel have met this last week. Before those meetings all collected input - by notetakers during the in-person sessions and from the online feedback form - was sorted by parish family. Each set of parish family data was read by two people who wrote a synthesis including any proposed changes, concerns and hopes for the new parish family. Archbishop Etienne released a letter that can be found at https://archseattle.org/partners along with an extensive (seventy page) summary of all of the feedback received by the committees responsible to the Archbishop for recommendations of changes which gives the currently (not final) proposed parish families (https://archseattle.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Parish-Feedback-Report-for-Partners-in-the-Gospel-Nov-2023-min.pdf). Our summary feedback begins on page 45. Because of the input received during this consultation, 25 proposed parish families have changed from their original configuration. The 78 parishes and missions within these 25 parish families are invited to hold a second round of consultation on the newly proposed family configuration. We priests will be contacted by the end of day Monday for further instructions if we are part of the proposed changes. I would like to provide an excerpt from our Archbishop from his letter, which you can also find at https://archseattle.org/partners:
“I am incredibly grateful for the input we received – and humbled by the engagement from the people of
God. In all we received over 3,000 pages of feedback from more than 700 input session reports and 800
online responses.
Despite what some may think, we are truly listening. The proposed parish families are in no way “a done deal.” In fact, the opposite is true. Your feedback was reviewed extensively. Because of your input, proposed changes emerged for 25 parish families. The parishes that have a possible change will have a second round of consultation in December on the newly proposed parish family configuration. We pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide our discernment so that we can follow where God is leading us in this process. Our goal is to encounter Christ, accompany each other and live the joy of the Gospel. As we restructure and renew our parishes, may we be compelled by our Baptismal dignity to live our faith more fully and carry Christ into the world.”
Finally, I would like to stress what I have written before regarding this process. It is easy to get caught up in organization and method and think that is the "work of the Gospel." That more effective meetings will save us/the parish/the Church. Our parish has seen changes in the past: at one time Holy Family Church in Krain was the parish church for the region, and it was originally called St. Gallen! What has been called to mind for me is Jesus' response to his disciples when they ask him what it means to be in the service and work of God. Jesus responds "This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he has sent." (John 6:29). This is the work of the Church: to deepen our knowledge, love and service of Jesus Christ and from that to be witnesses in our own time of His grace in the Church. Secondly, we do not have enough native-born priests in our Archdiocese. Praise God we have a priest that has come from our parish; that is one priest in over 150 years... I am convinced that God is calling 10% of our young, unmarried parishioners to follow Him in love and be loved by Him in a vocation other than holy sacramental marriage, whether that is holy priesthood, religious life, or consecrated celibacy. Pray that our young people hear God’s call to them to love and be loved by Him in this way. If your child shows interest in this way of life, encourage them, don’t be afraid to ask me about it or look it up. They aren’t entering seminary or the convent tomorrow, it is a time known as discernment. A prayer that I keep in my wallet is a prayer for vocations to the priesthood:
O God, Who will not the death of a sinner but rather that he be converted and live, grant we beseech you, through the intercession of the Blessed Mary ever Virgin, Saint Joseph, her spouse, St. Junipero Serra, and all the saints, an increase of laborers for your Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

A Note From the Music Director:
Beginning this Sunday, we will begin using the Mass setting for Advent--technically a couple of weeks early, but this will give us a chance to spend some more time and become more familiar with the music, especially since Advent is on the shorter side this year. We will be singing Chant Mass XVII, from the Roman Gradual, which has traditionally been sung on Sundays of Advent and Lent. (Although we will still sing the Gloria from the Heritage Mass until Advent actually begins; there is no Gloria for the Advent/Lent Masses.) On the purple cards in the pews, you will see the original Gregorian chant notation on one side, and the transcription to modern notation on the other. Both sides have the exact same music, but both options for following along are available.

Thanksgiving/Christmas Plateau Outreach Ministries Food Drive
Sacred Heart will be collecting food for POM 11/5/23 thru 12/24/23. Please help feed the hungry. The Knights of Columbus will donate another $100 to POM if we can gather 1,000 lbs of food by the end of the year. The weekend of 10/22/23 Sacred Heart donated 107 pounds of food. If we can maintain that rate we will be able to meet the 1,000 pound goal. POM’s Thanksgiving Food Pantry needs:

The Knights of Columbus recognize Robert and Laurie Staples as the Family of the Month. Robert and Laurie are recognized for their being a model of Christian charity, their dedication to raising their grandchildren while also promoting in them a life of faith. Robert's steadfast and longtime support of Council 13364 is also recognized and much appreciated.
Poinsettias/wreaths are scheduled to be available on Dec. 1st. Anyone who has purchased flower/wreaths will be notified for pickup.

Aidan was born in Guam, the second of three children. His family relocated to Centralia when he was still young, moving to the greater Olympia area when Aidan was in fifth grade. He spent much of his time with his parish youth group at St. Michael where he first felt drawn to Christ in seventh grade during adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Other than youth ministry Aidan spent much of his time competing in football and wrestling. He graduated from Tumwater High School as well as earning his associate degree from South Puget Sound Community College through the Running Start program. Aidan is attending Mount Angel Seminary and looks forward to surrendering to God's will for his life, and the road of discernment ahead towards diocesan priesthood. Please keep Aidan in your prayers. If you wish to join the Knights in supporting Aidan financially you can send donations to KofC Council 13364 with the designation "for Aidan Aguero Seminarian".

The Vigil Project is coming to Sacred Heart Thursday, November 30th at 7 PM!
In this one-night program, encounter the Living God together with your community through a time of Eucharistic Adoration. Complete with beautiful music, dynamic speaking, and communal prayer, we'll dive deeper into our relationship with Jesus, coming to know Him more fully through His True Presence.
The Vigil Project is a nonprofit apostolate founded in 2016 by a community of musical artists with a common mission to make Catholic music for Catholic prayer. Featuring a collective of seasoned singer/songwriters and music leaders, TVP exists to invite the Church to a fresh encounter with God and to deep prayer through the experience of beautiful music. They have garnered international acclaim through the release of three music video series (“Lent and Easter,” “Advent and Christmas,” “Live at The Steeple”) as well as numerous other music albums that have helped set a new standard globally for excellence in the Catholic music space. In addition to the many large-scale concert events, workshops and retreats for musicians, and new music projects they produce, TVP remains dedicated to serving at the parish level by offering seasonal mission-tours throughout the US and beyond.

Tithing
"What can I return to the Lord for all that he has turned over to me?"
Tithing is an essential part of life with Christ. It is a sacred gift offered to God. To tithe, either bring money to the church on Sunday or tithe online below.
Pledging allows us to budget for the coming calendar year. It is a way to allow us to know what we are planning on giving the Lord in the coming year.
